Job Title Lab Services Senior Coordinator Position Summary Supports all activities of the Clinical Trials Processing Lab (CTPL) as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing strategic oversight and support to investigators across OSUWMC and outside The Ohio State University. Responsibilities Lead a team of clinical lab technologists at a multi-staff location. Oversee and manage CTPL operations and workflows, including sample processing, storage, and shipping in compliance with applicable regulations and institutional policies. Construct sample libraries of many sample types including blood, bone marrow, plasma, serum, urine, saliva and paraffin-embedded tissue. Receive, process, and distribute specimens, including time-sensitive patient samples for pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and other correlative studies. Manage sample and kit inventory via electronic database. Complete laboratory test requisition forms and maintain sample records for audit purposes. Oversee compliance with safety standards, using prescribed laboratory methods, instruments, and automated equipment. Train staff on proper use of manual and automated equipment and maintain instrument maintenance records. Review, prioritize, and assist in the design and implementation of new lab policies as needed. Communicate with outside reference labs regarding patient testing, handling inquiries, and resolving testing and specimen collection issues. Lead collaborations with clinical research and hospital staff as necessary to ensure seamless integration with clinical operations. Direct quality control and assurance activities, audits, and FDA inspections. Ensure compliance with FDA, IRB, and applicable regulations as well as internal clinical research SOPs, policies, and procedures. Maintain all GCP, IATA, EHS, and sponsor-required training and certifications. Oversee onboarding and training of new technologists, research assistants and student assistants. Serve as CTPL technical expert, providing guidance on complex projects and helping to develop and implement new processes. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Health-related Sciences, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2 years of relevant experience. Good working knowledge of laboratory principles, equipment, and safety standards. Ability to communicate effectively face-to-face and in writing with clinical staff and outside collaborators. Experience processing tissue, blood, urine, saliva, and bone marrow samples, handling biohazardous materials and aseptic techniques preferred. Data collection and data entry experience required. Knowledge of tissue procurement techniques and anatomic pathology desired. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Demonstrates initiative and ability to provide useful feedback in a professional manner. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook and Excel required.
