Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Yes Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Level 1 Trauma experience - Natural hair color and no facial piercings - Men must be clean-shaven for fit test - Competency in sterile field maintenance Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse with a specialty in Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring. The unit has a total of 48 beds, including 10 epilepsy specialty rooms. Critical thinking and excellent assessment skills are essential for detecting small changes in patients. The nurse will be expected to complete pass/fail simulations and maintain competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Work will involve patient assignments with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 during days and nights. While primarily a MedSurg unit, telemetry experience is also required. The unit operates 24/7 with an in-house team of hospitalists or intensivists. The nurse will participate in self-scheduling and be expected to cover weekend and holiday shifts as needed. Completion of floor-specific orientation will be required. Experience in caring for patients with conditions such as epilepsy, brain tumors, and traumatic brain injuries is preferred. Additional duties may include using self-releasing velcro seat belts and coordinating with respiratory therapy for management of Bipap. Candidates should have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred and certifications in Med Surg/Tele preferred. This role involves the possibility of floating to other units as needed. The charting system used is Cerner.
