Pediatric Emergency Services Now Available at Methodist Boerne Emergency Center

Methodist Boerne Emergency Center, a department of Methodist Hospital, serves Boerne and the surrounding communities with a medical center that includes the first-ever 24/7 freestanding emergency center, the first its kind in South and Central Texas.

The most common complaints among patients visiting Methodist Boerne Emergency Center are: chest pain, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, extremity injuries, fever, motor vehicle accidents, back pain, pregnancy complaints, skin infections, animal bites, pediatric illness and lacerations.

Methodist Boerne Emergency Center's compassionate team of medical professionals works to stabilize critical patients experiencing the following: acute myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, stroke, subarachnoid bleed, trauma (including amputations), overdose, spinal cord injuries, cardiac arrhythmias, seizures, pulmonary embolus and pneumothorax. After stabilization, the patient is transported to a Methodist hospital in San Antonio.

The Methodist Boerne Emergency Center exceeds national standards for rapid evaluation and treatment in emergency cardiac cases, with impressive times between a patient's arrival, evaluation, travel time to San Antonio and having an angioplasty.

Emergency Center Highlights

Freestanding emergency center; full-service; 24/7, 365 days

15 treatment rooms:

  • Two trauma/cardiac care rooms
  • Five emergency/treatment rooms
  • Four fast-track non-urgent treatment rooms for minor emergencies
  • Four observation beds designed for monitoring 24-hour observation stay

Full range of services available including: radiology, full-service laboratory and telemetry

Specific on-site diagnostic equipment includes: 16-slice CT scanner; dedicated x-ray suite, ultrasound and telemetry equipment

Bedside registration for convenience and privacy

Air and ground transport to San Antonio for critically ill or injured patients

Direct access to advanced trauma services and expert resources at Methodist Healthcare facilities

The Emergency Center offers the benefits of immediate intervention for serious emergencies where treatment time is critical and 24-hour monitoring and testing of patients, such as chest pain cases, is required.
