Our client, a leading provider of comprehensive mental health services in a prominent healthcare setting, is hiring a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner . This essential role offers a unique opportunity for a dedicated psychiatric nurse practitioner to deliver high-quality psychiatric care in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The position requires on-site work five days a week at our main location in Long Island City, with a standard workweek from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including one late day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays. The successful candidate will play a vital role in patient evaluations, treatment planning, medication management, and crisis intervention, contributing significantly to the mental health outcomes of diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments to determine diagnoses and develop treatment plans.
\n
• Collaborate with psychiatrists on documentation and clinical decisions.
\n
• Provide medication management, educating patients on side effects and treatment options to facilitate informed consent.
\n
• Deliver individual psychotherapy and crisis intervention or counseling to de-escalate conflicts.
\n
• Complete all necessary documentation, including referrals and transfer forms, adhering to HIPAA and institutional policies.
\n
• Manage referrals to external mental health agencies and providers, ensuring continuity of care.
\n
• Partner with primary care providers and specialists for integrated treatment approaches.
\n
• Coordinate psychiatric care with medical clinic staff, shelter personnel, and outside providers.
\n
• Offer coverage for psychiatric supervision when needed, including emergency responses and follow-up care.
\n
• Engage in multidisciplinary case management meetings, contributing insights to optimize patient care.
\n
• Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations, ensuring documentation accuracy and confidentiality.
\n

Requirements:

\n
• Board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with an active PMHNP license in New York State.
\n
• Must be an NYS Medicaid provider.
\n
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in psychiatric nursing or a related clinical setting.
\n
• Strong skills in psychiatric assessment, medication management, and crisis intervention.
\n
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and external agencies.
\n
• Proficiency in electronic medical records systems, including demographic management, scheduling, documentation, and electronic prescribing.
\n
• Additional experience with substance abuse programs, mental health referrals, and health promotion initiatives is advantageous.
\n
