Job Title: IMC/Tele Stepdown RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: IMC/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, EKG Course Must-Have Skills: Management with IV nitro, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in an Intermediate Care Unit. Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:4 but may stretch to 1:5 during high census situations. Common diagnoses include cardiac, NSTEMI, post cath lab, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, GI bleed, detox, respiratory distress, and sepsis. Experience with post cath lab patients is beneficial. Arterial line experience is appreciated but not required. RNs are required to titrate drips such as nitroglycerin, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone. Charge nurses take an assignment and manage 2 patients. There are nursing aids on the unit with a ratio of approximately 1 to 10 or 12, depending on the census. Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and Optiflow. There are telemetry technicians on the unit who read the strips and use GE monitors. Shifts are primarily nights, with no self-scheduling. RNs may be required to float to medical-surgical or intermediate care overflow in ICU. Scrub color is navy blue. All clinicians must clock in and out while on shift. Weekend and holiday requirements are every other. Call or standby requirements may apply.
