About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PACU Duration: 6 weeks Shift: 10-hour shifts with flexible start times (8am, 9am, or 10am) Hours per Shift: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of Acute Care Hospital PACU experience required License: Valid nursing license to practice in South Carolina Certifications: BLS from the American Heart Association required Must-Have: Associates of Nursing or Diploma in Nursing (required); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred) Description: The job summary is to provide nursing care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. Professional nursing theory and practice will be applied to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Constant interaction with internal and external customers, including patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors is required. Responsibilities include performing patient assessments that reflect physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs, and functional abilities through the systematic collection and review of patient-specific data. Planning and prioritizing care based on assessments, evaluating patient progress, and revising care to attain expected outcomes is essential. Clinical competencies in the specific area of practice as per departmental performance standards must be demonstrated. Identifying patient/family learning needs and providing education, while involving other disciplines as needed, is critical. Ethical issues in patient care must be identified and responded to appropriately. Providing nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights is necessary. Initiating collaborative dialogue with physicians and coordinating multidisciplinary activities to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care is required. Acting as a patient advocate is essential. Nursing care must be provided while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, core measures, patient safety, and quality initiatives. Work demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping. Frequent lifting/moving of patients is required, with intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity and constant reaching with hands/arms is necessary. Effective communication skills are required, as well as the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue and possible exposure to infectious materials or communicable diseases in a healthcare environment is expected. Work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours may be required, and taking call or working weekends/holidays based on departmental needs is possible.
