Senior Estimator

Experienced Senior Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for heavy civil infrastructure projects throughout Texas. This role focuses on hard bid estimating for roadway, highway, bridge, drainage, paving, utility, and earthwork projects. The Senior Estimator will work closely with operations, project management, subcontractors, and company leadership to develop winning bid strategies and ensure project costs are accurately captured.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for heavy civil and roadway construction projects.
• Review plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Develop estimates for:
  • Highway and roadway construction
  • Concrete and asphalt paving
  • Road widening and reconstruction
  • Bridge construction
  • Drainage and underground utility systems
  • Earthwork and excavation projects
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project reviews.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering alternatives.
• Collaborate with operations and project management teams to develop bid strategies.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and production rates.
• Support management with bid presentations and contract negotiations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of heavy civil or highway estimating experience.
• Minimum 4 years of hard bid estimating experience.
• Experience estimating projects ranging from approximately $5 million to $30 million.
• Strong background in:
  • Roadway construction
  • Highway projects
  • Bridge construction
  • Concrete and asphalt paving
  • Drainage systems
  • Underground utilities
  • Earthwork and excavation
• Proficiency in quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and material pricing.
• Experience using estimating and scheduling software such as:
  • HCSS HeavyBid
  • Bid2Win
  • Primavera P6
  • Viewpoint
  • AGTEK
  • HeavyJob
  • Autodesk Civil 3D
• Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on DOT or TxDOT projects.
• Expertise in bottom-up estimating methodologies.
• Ability to analyze project risks and develop competitive bid strategies.
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
