Remote US Expat Tax Accountant

We are hiring a US Expat Tax Accountant based in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, offering a competitive market salary. This full-time position requires 3+ years of experience in public accounting or expatriate tax compliance. The US Expat Tax Accountant will play a key role in delivering accurate and compliant international tax services for clients connected to Chagrin Falls and across the U.S. While the role is fully remote, it supports operations tied to Chagrin Falls, Ohio and serves U.S. citizens and green card holders living abroad. Candidates should have strong technical expertise in international tax reporting and be prepared for a full-time commitment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file U.S. individual income tax returns for expatriates, including complex international reporting requirements.
• Accurately complete Forms 1116, 2555, 8621, 5471, 3520, and 3520-A.
• Review foreign income statements, investment records, and ownership structures to determine proper tax treatment.
• Advise clients on foreign earned income exclusion and foreign tax credit strategies.
• Provide tax planning and consulting services tailored to expatriate clients.
• Explain complex U.S. tax regulations in a clear and understandable manner.
• Stay current on IRS updates affecting U.S. taxpayers abroad.
• Manage multiple client engagements while maintaining high-quality standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in U.S. expat tax preparation.
• Strong working knowledge of international reporting forms (1116, 2555, 8621, 5471, 3520, 3520-A).
• In-depth understanding of U.S. tax laws applicable to citizens and green card holders living overseas.
• CPA or EA designation preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
