It's located in one of the world's safest and most economically vibrant communities and is Orange County's second-largest employer, contributing $7 billion annually to the local economy and $8 billion statewide.The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute (SSIHI), part of UCI Health and the Susan & Henry College of Health Sciences, works to transform healthcare through the practice of integrative health by conducting rigorous research, promoting evidence-based treatment modalities, educating the public on well-being practices, providing individualized, patient-centered clinical care, and providing services to the community that focus on obtaining optimal health.ResponsibilitiesThe Clinical Dietitian will provide specialized nutrition assessment, counseling, and medical nutrition therapy within an integrative and functional medicine model of care. The Clinical Dietitian will evaluate patients' nutritional status, dietary patterns, lifestyle factors, health history, lab findings, and other relevant clinical parameters to develop individualized, evidence-informed nutrition interventions designed to support optimal health, prevent and manage chronic disease, and promote whole-person wellness. Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of physicians and other health professionals, the Clinical Dietitian will integrate nutrition science with the principles of integrative and functional medicine to identify and address nutrition-related contributors to health and disease. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive nutrition assessments; reviewing and interpreting relevant lab and clinical data; developing individualized nutrition care plans; providing one-on-one nutrition consultations and education; and supporting patients in implementing sustainable dietary and lifestyle changes. The Clinical Dietitian will also develop and facilitate group nutrition education programs and classes to promote health literacy, disease prevention, and self-management. Services provided by the Clinical Dietitian may include, but are not limited to, comprehensive dietary and nutrition assessments, individualized medical nutrition therapy, nutrition counseling and education, therapeutic dietary recommendations, and collaboration in the development of comprehensive integrative and functional medicine care plans.QualificationsRequired:Excellent verbal, writing, and computer skills.Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, patients, staff, faculty, fellows and other professionalsKnowledge of cultural customs as they related to health care and food preferencesMust be organized and able to re-prioritize tasks; must be able to multi-taskIntegrative Health ExperienceGraduation from an accredited program in nutritional science BS degree and internship accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and DieteticsRegistered Dietician certification by CDRIntegrative Health ExperienceTotal RewardsIn addition to the salary range listed below, we offer a wealth of benefits to make working at UCI even more rewarding.
