Description


This person will provide career and work-based learning services to IHCC students through career exploration, exposure to job shadowing, internships, and pre-employment preparation. This individual will serve as a resource, for students and faculty to connect with businesses and other college departments to facilitate career services and work-based learning opportunities. They will also help students explore career options and determine appropriate career and academic pathways to meet their educational and employment goals.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, human services or related field.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in the areas of work-based learning, career advising and/or job placement.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with various constituents, including students, faculty and business and industry representatives.

Work Performed


Perkins/CTE Responsibilities
  • Provide career and academic pathway services primarily for students enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs through career coaching, career exploration, job shadowing, internships, clinical coordination, competency-based education (CBE) support, and pre-employment preparation activities.
  • Work with current and prospective CTE students to identify educational and employment opportunities aligned with regional workforce demand, high-demand occupations, and industry-recognized credentials.
  • Coordinate and monitor work-based learning experiences, internships, and clinical placements in high-demand occupational fields for students enrolled in CTE programs.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with faculty, employer partners, industry representatives, and workforce stakeholders to support workforce alignment, employer engagement, and student employment opportunities.
  • Maintain and expand a database of work-based learning, internship, apprenticeship, and employment opportunities for students enrolled in CTE programs.
  • Provide individualized advising and workforce readiness support to CTE and CBE students related to employability skills, career readiness, credential attainment, employer expectations, and career pathway planning.
  • Support CBE students through orientation, scheduling coordination, outreach, employer sponsor communication, and referrals to campus resources including Financial Aid.
  • Coordinate communication and support activities between CBE students, faculty, employer sponsors, and college departments.
  • Develop and deliver career readiness workshops, workforce preparation activities, employer engagement events, career fairs, and hiring events that support CTE and workforce pathway initiatives.
  • Provide support, consultation, and training for College and Career Transition Coaches (CCTCs) and assist with career exploration and CTE pathway awareness activities for participating high school students.
  • Create and maintain webpage and social media content promoting CTE programs, work-based learning opportunities, employer partnerships, internships, apprenticeships, and career readiness events.
  • Maintain records and tracking related to work-based learning participation, employer engagement, student outcomes, and Perkins performance indicators.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, conferences, and professional development activities related to career pathways, work-based learning, CBE, and CTE initiatives.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of work-based learning and workforce readiness activities for CTE students.
General Career Services Responsibilities
  • Provide general career exploration assistance and career services support to non-CTE students as needed.
  • Serve as an IHCC resource for general career opportunities and career services information for students, faculty, and community partners.
  • Assist with campus-wide workshops, trainings, career fairs, and student engagement activities related to student success initiatives.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and professional development activities related to career services and student support functions.

Supplemental Information

Responsible to:
Director, Enrollment Services & Academic/Career Advisor

Position Level:
Professional - Exempt - Special Funding, at will employment on a letter of employment. This position is supported by grant funding and is dependent on the continued availability of those funds.

Employment Length:
3.5 Term, Full Time, Benefits
