C ollege of Health Sciences Physical Therapy Program 555 31 s t St r eet ,Downers Grove, IL 60515 Position Descriptions: Midwestern University (MWU) PhysicalTherapy Program in Downers Grove, IL, is seeking an individual to join the faculty of its established in-person DPT program.Applications are invited for a 12-month, full-time, tenure-trackphysical therapy faculty position, which includes serving asCo-Director of Clinical Education (Co-DCE). Rank, salary, andtenure status are commensurate with qualifications andexperience. The Co-DCE has administrative responsibilities in addition to thetraditional faculty roles. The primary administrativeresponsibilities of the co-DCE are to plan, coordinate, administer,monitor, and assess clinical experiences in coordination with theacademic and clinical faculty. The co- DCE serves as a liaisonbetween the academic institution and the affiliating clinicalfacilities. The co-DCE coordinates the resources and efforts of allclinical education partners to provide excellence in the clinicaleducation of the physical therapy students. The Co-DCE recruits andmaintains relationships with clinical affiliation sites; encouragesand assists clinical site and clinical faculty development; andcoordinates and plans the Preparation for Clinical Educationcoursework within the didactic curriculum. R e sponsibilities and Qualifications forAssistant or Associate Professor – Physical Therapy : Inaddition to serving as one of the Co-DCEs, the facultyresponsibilities include teaching in the candidate’s area ofexpertise, scholarly activity, university/professional service,curriculum evaluation, and student mentoring. Preference will begiven to candidates whose background and experience can extend theexpertise of the current faculty. The most qualified applicantswill have expertise in either acute care and/or cardiopulmonaryphysical therapy, physiology, wound care, and/or modalities.Candidates must hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, andspecialist certification is appreciated. Evidence of scholarlypreparation and strong potential for scholarly development arepreferred, and preference will be given to candidates who havecompleted or are in progress toward a post-professional doctoraldegree (e.g., PhD, EdD, DSc, DHS). Applicants must be eligible forphysical therapy licensure in Illinois and have at least 3 years ofclinical experience. A record of prior teaching experience,scholarly productivity, and professional service will enhance acandidate’s application. The possibility to provide clinical careat the MWU’s Multispecialty Clinic’s Physical Therapy Instituteexists to allow continuation of clinical certification.
