The posted compensation range of $15.67 - $22.14 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

As our Referral Specialist, you will be a vital part of our healthcare team, responsible for expertly managing and monitoring both internal and external patient referrals. This includes coordinating with patients, referring clinicians, and various specialty departments to ensure a seamless referral process. Your dedication to enhancing patient experience and access to care is central to our mission and values.

Every day you will collaborate across physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), and clinic staff to facilitate scheduling across the patient care continuum. You'll communicate with patients to gather demographic information and preferences for referred services, validate pre-authorizations, and manage referral work queues in the EMR. Your role also involves accurate documentation, ensuring referral orders are correctly entered into the EMR, and communicating any necessary changes or clarifications to referring clinicians.

To be successful in this healthcare coordination role, you will need a minimum of one year of healthcare-related experience, preferably in a position involving scheduling and EMR utilization. Proficiency with Google Suite or Microsoft Office products, strong medical terminology knowledge, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. We are seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused individual with strong electronic medical record proficiency who can effectively manage multiple tasks and maintain strict HIPAA compliance, contributing to a smooth patient referral journey for all.

Required:

  • High School Graduate /GED and
  • Minimum of one year healthcare related experience, preferably in a position involving scheduling and EMR utilization, upon hire and
  • Experience with Google Suite or Microsoft Office products
