About Us At Antares, our long-term mission is to make clean energy abundant from Earth to the Asteroid Belt. We’re fueled by the belief that advanced nuclear energy can strengthen our military, solve the climate crisis, elevate global living standards, and expand humanity's presence in outer space. To achieve our mission, we’re building mass-producible, inherently safe, deployable microreactors that can be used terrestrially, underwater, and in space. The Antares team hails from SpaceX, the White House, the Pentagon, the Department of Energy, MIT, Rigetti Computing, General Atomics, Relativity Space, Ursa Major, and National Laboratories like Idaho, Oak Ridge, Los Alamos, and Savannah River. Antares has raised over $600M in venture capital from top-tier investors and has hundreds of million-dollars on contract with the military services, NASA, and the Department of Energy. About the Role As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will help keep Antares' office, R&D, and factory space safe, functional, and ready for the teams that use them. This is a daily onsite, hands-on role supporting office touch-ups, light builds and installations, vendor work, routine facility needs, and basic machine preventive maintenance. The ideal candidate is a practical, service-oriented maintenance professional who takes pride in workmanship, responds calmly to changing priorities, and knows when to complete work directly versus involve a licensed trade or equipment specialist. This person will partner closely with Business Operations, Manufacturing, Safety, and external vendors. Roles & Responsibilities: Complete routine building maintenance and work orders across offices, common areas, R&D spaces, and factory support areas. Perform office touch-ups such as patching, painting, caulking, minor finish repair, hardware replacement, and other basic upkeep. Support light builds, furniture assembly, shelving, fixtures, signage, and small installations using approved plans and materials. Assess incoming requests, clarify scope and priority, identify needed tools or materials, and communicate expected timing to stakeholders. Perform minor maintenance work; elevate electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire/life-safety, or other licensed work as required. Carry out basic machine and equipment preventive-maintenance tasks according to approved procedures, manufacturer guidance, and maintenance schedules. Coordinate and oversee vendors by confirming scope, access, safety expectations, schedule, progress, workmanship, and completion. Partner with Manufacturing and Safety to plan work around production activity, hazards, equipment controls, and site requirements. Inspect assigned areas, identify developing maintenance needs, and raise risks before they become larger disruptions. Maintain an organized inventory of common tools, consumables, repair materials, and replacement parts needed for recurring work. Document completed work, preventive maintenance, inspections, vendor activity, materials used, and follow-up actions in the designated system. Keep work areas clean and orderly, use required PPE, and follow site safety, security, and access-control procedures. Support urgent facility needs and planned improvement projects while maintaining clear communication with affected teams. Basic Qualifications: 3+ years of hands-on facilities maintenance, building maintenance, industrial maintenance, or closely related trade experience. Demonstrated ability to complete practical repairs and light installation work with consistent workmanship, sound judgment, and attention to safety. Ability to work daily onsite at in Torrance, CA. Preferred Skills and Experience: 5+ years of relevant building, facilities, or industrial maintenance experience. A current trade license, certification, apprenticeship credential, or equivalent formal training is a plus. Experience supporting a mixed office, R&D, warehouse, or manufacturing environment. Strong finish-work skills, including patching, painting, caulking, hardware repair, and general office touch-ups. Experience with light carpentry, furniture or shelving assembly, fixture installation, signage, or small buildout projects. Experience coordinating contractors or vendors and verifying scope, safety, quality, schedule, and closeout. Experience performing basic preventive maintenance on machines or facility equipment using approved checklists and procedures. Familiarity with work-order or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and accurate maintenance documentation. Ability to troubleshoot routine issues, identify root causes, and recognize when specialized or licensed support is required. Good organization and material-planning habits, including tool control, consumables, parts, and job-site cleanliness. Clear, respectful customer-service communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience working in safety-conscious, regulated, aerospace, defense, energy, or advanced-manufacturing environments. Additional Requirements: Ability to lift and move tools, materials, parts, and equipment up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work assigned full-time schedule and support overtime or weekends as needed. Compensation: Level I: $24.75-$30.25/hour Level II: $31.50-$38.50/hour Level III: $41.40-$50.60/hour Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Culture At Antares, we like to specifically tie each role to our founding document’s set of values–here are the top five cultural values we think you should believe at your core to be successful: Think in Systems - Energy and Defense are complex ecosystems with numerous stakeholders with competing priorities, conflicting policies, perverse incentives, and emergent and path-dependent properties. First principles thinking alone is insufficient. Think probabilistically and then take action. “If you want to be certain, then you are apt to be obsolete.” Over-optimizing the components often degrades the system Obsess over the End User - The customer and end user are often not the same. We will never build globally competitive commercial products if we lose sight of our end users and their entire interaction with the product life cycle Be Unconstrained by Convention - Our only limits are the laws of physics. Many, even experts, will say what we are working on is impossible. They said the same about SpaceX reusing rockets. Generationally impactful companies, by definition, must accomplish the seemingly impossible. If it were easy, it would have already been done. Never shy away from a solution because it has never been tried before, and never choose to do something because that's “how it's always been done” Go Where the Work I’s - Never miss a chance to meet a customer, user, or stakeholder face to face, even if that means hopping on a plane. If you can’t make it, find a teammate who can channel your intentions and go in your place. Deep work can be done from anywhere, but we believe teams are built in person, and aim to maximize our time together Operate in the Grey - Embrace nuance in pursuit of truth. Question every fundamental assumption Equal Opportunity Antares is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are based solely on merit, competence, and qualifications, without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability, or any other legally protected status.
