Job Posting End Date: 06-07-2026 Job Summary Under direct supervision of a qualified person, perform all types of work involved in the installation, maintenance, rearrangement, operation, removal, and inspection of de-energized electrical transmission and distribution facilities. This role includes supervision definitions (direct, immediate, general) and the responsibilities of a qualified person (Line Mechanic or Supervisor). What You’ll Do Perform duties in accordance with company safety rules and report unsafe conditions. Patrol transmission lines using maps and drawings. Use proper hand signals for line work. Execute right-of-way control procedures for transmission lines. Install, maintain, and repair overhead lines; dig holes for poles, towers and anchors; set poles, towers, below‑ground components, and guy anchorages. Replace or stub poles and conduct dead or energized works. Make up and install guys, tower components, and frame pole structures. Attach tools and materials to life ropes and cables for installation or use in the air; select proper knots; perform rigging and tying off ropes. Use live-line tools, bare‑hand techniques, rubber gloves and sleeves under direct supervision of a qualified person. Perform climbing maintenance on all transmission structures, except on cross‑arms carrying energized conductors. Make up conductor and shield wire splices, dead‑ends, and terminals; identify conductor types and sizes; set up reels for conductor installation; install conductors and shield wires. Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly fashion. Assist employees of equal or higher classification, attend training, and assist in training other employees. Maintain records and submit reports as required; prepare right‑of‑way items on field drawings. Operate automotive equipment, truck‑mounted lifting and pulling devices; load and unload poles, steel, and other materials. Qualifications High school graduate or GED. Minimum of one year of transmission electrical power line work experience, OR a one‑year electrical power line school certificate plus a minimum of 16 weeks internship or transmission electrical power line experience, OR an associate degree from an electrical power line school that includes a minimum of 16 weeks internship or transmission electrical power line experience. Must live within a 35‑mile radius (or 40 roadway miles) of the service location. Physical Demands Minimum requirement for a Line Mechanic: lift 75 lbs from floor/ground to waist level; carry 60 lbs for 20 feet; lift 50 lbs to chest level; lift 30 lbs to eye level. Walk 2 miles over an 8‑hour shift; climb and work on a ladder/structure 100 feet or higher; ascend and work in a bucket/lift 150 feet or higher. Discriminate between colors: Yes (not tested). Physical demand level: Heavy Work (exerting 50–100 lbs occasionally, 25–50 lbs frequently, or up to 10–20 lbs constantly).
