Commercial Underwriter

Premier Capital Corporation, a commercial lending institution, is hiring a Commercial Underwriter in Indianapolis, IN.

OPPORTUNITY

As our Commercial Underwriter and a significant partner with major banks, you will play a critical role in our lending operations. Use your knowledge of prudent lending standards in conjunction with SBA lending requirements. Examine and prepare quality loan applications for SBA approval. Working closely with Loan Officers and Business Development Officers, you will serve as a trusted credit partner providing insight, identifying risk, and ensuring each transaction adheres to regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will join a collaborative team supporting commercial banking relationships throughout Indiana.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Perform data evaluation on information retrieved from lender loan applications, including analysis of financials, cash flow and collateral coverage. Consult with loan officers after meetings with potential clients to trouble shoot any potential eligibility issues. Investigate real estate properties via environmental and appraisal reports to determine value, environmental quality and compliance with SBA standards. Research project costs for remodeling and renovating properties listed on loan applications to determine eligibility and reconcile costs with requested funds for approval. Conduct risk assessments on potential clients based on previous borrowing history, credit rating, industry experience and other factors. Identify risk and request additional information from loan officers when appropriate to complete required due diligence. Score loan transactions and prepare applications for loan committee review. Prepare credit memos compliant with SBA regulations to anticipate questions or hurdles in the application process. Report detailed risk assessment findings and other data that contribute to lending decisions. Monitor loan progress through the SBA authorization process and respond promptly to information requests. Follow up with loan officers regarding status of loan commitment, appraisal, environmental reports, etc. Partner with the Closing Officer to ensure appraisals, environmental reports, modifications, and other required documents are completed prior to closing and assist with closing-related communications with borrowers and lenders.

SUCCESS FACTORS

3+ years of commercial banking underwriting experience, preferably with SBA loans. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field. Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and commercial credit structuring. Experience preparing formal credit presentations for loan committee review. Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and financial analysis tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional banking presence. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple credit files simultaneously. Sound judgment with a balanced approach to risk management and relationship banking. Desire to provide superior customer service, both internally and externally.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Premier Capital will reward your talents with a base salary of $75K - $95K based on experience. You will receive an attractive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, disability insurance, paid holidays, and vacation.
