Class A - Relief Shuttle Driver

Job Overview This is a union‑represented position covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Eligible employees receive health and welfare benefits through the Teamsters Managed Health Care Trust, which may include medical, prescription, dental, vision, and life insurance. Position Details Payrate: $29.00 Schedule: Monday to Friday Shift: Dispatch time at 5:00PM Required Qualifications Must have a CDL Class A with a Doubles Endorsement. Position Scope As a Relief Shuttle Driver, you will transport empty trailers to the Operating Company warehouse locations and turn around and deliver full trailers to domicile or shuttle yard locations. The driver operates tandem trailers, tractor trailers, and/or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, ensuring safe and timely deliveries in compliance with DOT regulations, and communicating professionally with customers, vendors, and co‑workers. Primary Responsibilities Perform all required safety checks, including pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of tractor, truck, and trailer per DOT regulations and company safety standards, and report any safety issues or required repairs. Follow all DOT regulations and company safe‑driving guidelines and policies. Inspect trailers to ensure proper loading and secure freight. Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices for loaded products. Complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly. Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed. Perform hook and unhook procedures per safety guidelines. Park and store trailers in designated areas. Conduct damage‑control checks on items, scan and contact supervisor regarding removal of orders per company policy, verify delivery of items with customers, obtain proper signatures, and collect payment when required. Load customer returns onto trailer, secure trailer doors, and ensure that tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and/or secured. Collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailer, return them to driver check‑in at the base facility, and complete necessary paperwork. Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring them to driver check‑in, complete necessary paperwork, unload all equipment and materials, and remove trash from trailers as required. Complete daily Record of Hours of Service and enter log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements. Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean as required. Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule. Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas. Perform other related duties as assigned. Valid CDL‑A, must be 21+ years of age. Must have a doubles/triples endorsement. At least 6 months of tractor‑trailer commercial driving experience. Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable). Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check. Pass road test. Attains or has a valid current DOT Health Card and/or is able to secure a new DOT Health Card. Able to hand‑lift and utilize a two‑wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move or stack product cases/freight ranging from 10 to 90 pounds depending on the location. Preferred Qualifications 1+ year of tractor‑trailer commercial driving experience. Experience with an onboard computer and electronic log system (e.g., PeopleNet). Experience with a hand‑held point‑of‑delivery scanning system (e.g., POD). Customer service‑related work experience. Food service distribution industry experience.
