Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Trauma Level I hospital in San Diego, requiring CA RN licensure and at least 2 years of concurrent ICU experience.

ICU setting within a Trauma Level I hospital

Patient ratio of 1:2

Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)

Required to work 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week cycle and at least one holiday, including the holiday weekend

May float to like units or lower acuity units (excluding the ED) across the health system's 5 hospitals, at or below skillset

Uses Epic charting system

Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)

Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required

NIHSS certification required

TNCC certification preferred

Minimum 2 years of ICU-specific experience, including experience within the past year in an ICU setting

1.5 years of continuous experience in specialty without breaks in similar units

Travel experience required, including 1 year total travel experience and 6+ months of continuous travel experience immediately preceding consideration

Epic or combined Epic/Cerner experience required within the last 6 months of work history

Teaching hospital experience preferred

Community hospital experience preferred

Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, and blood product administration

Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care

Experience managing cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, and continuous IV sedation/paralytics

Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and acute/chronic renal failure management preferred

Experience with neurological care including EVD, ICP monitoring, stroke management, and post-neurosurgical care

Experience with dysrhythmia management, 12-lead EKG, and multisystem organ dysfunction care

1 supervisory-level professional reference required

Valid copies of all required certifications must be provided, with no pending or expired certifications accepted

Provide high-acuity ICU care across medical, neuro, surgical, and trauma intensive care settings

Work within a collaborative care team supporting complex, critically ill patients

Maximum 7 days of requested time off, with no additional RTO requests accepted after consideration

Must not have worked as a local in San Diego within the last 9 months to be eligible

Candidates must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility, except for LVNs/LPNs

First-time travelers are not accepted for this position

Previous travelers or permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning to the facility

International travelers must have at least 1 year of recent or current U.S. work experience
