Worship Pastor

Pathways Church is currently looking for a full-time Worship Pastor who leads with passion, humility, and thoughtfulness, and gets fired up at the idea of developing a vibrant worship culture within a congregation.

Lead and develop the worship ministry to form people in worship, shepherd both the worship team and the wider congregation, and create environments and experiences that lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus.

Spiritual Leadership

Shepherd and disciple worship volunteers as followers of Jesus and disciple-makers. Serve as a shepherding voice and presence to the congregation, on and off the platform: praying with people, leading pastoral moments in gatherings, and being known and available on weekends. Can include weddings and funerals as well. Ensure lyrical and worship elements are theologically grounded and aligned with Scripture. Provide pastoral care within the worship team and share in congregational care alongside the pastoral staff, including weddings, funerals, and other shepherding needs.

Worship and Gathering Leadership

Serve as primary worship leader for weekend gatherings, lead the band and vocalists, facilitate and lead weekly rehearsals. Champion and provide worship planning for major services like Christmas and Easter, in concert with the Senior Pastor and Executive Director. Shape the worship elements of weekends, series, and special events in partnership with the Senior Pastor and Executive Director. Cultivate a culture of worship that extends beyond Sunday and into everyday life.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead, develop, and care for worship volunteers and key volunteer leaders. Identify, engage and direct contracted and guest musicians as needed. Identify, train, and empower new worship leaders with a multiplication mindset, sharing leadership with qualified individuals. Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and development of worship team volunteers. Ensure all elements needed for the service are shared with team members in a timely manner. Maintain effective scheduling, rehearsal structures, and team communication.

Strategic Collaboration

Partner with the Senior Pastor and Executive Director to execute ministry vision. Work closely with technical staff and volunteers so that sound, lighting, and visuals serve the gathering. Contribute to creative and sermon series planning as the voice for worship. Collaborate with other ministries to identify and develop future worship leaders. Work with the Business Director to steward the worship budget, including contractor costs, with wisdom and strategic alignment.

Maintain a vibrant personal walk with the Lord rooted in Scripture and prayer. Pursue ongoing growth in biblical depth, leadership, and creative craft.

Qualifications

Godly character consistent with the qualifications for church leadership in 1 Timothy 3. Demonstrated pastoral leadership experience and gifts, including shepherding people beyond a ministry team. Previously obtained pastoral credentials and/or formal ministry education. Demonstrated experience leading worship in a larger or growing church context. Proven ability to recruit, lead, and develop teams and to direct contracted musicians. Strong musical leadership, vocal ability, and working knowledge of music theory across multiple worship styles. Familiarity with modern worship music, technology, and production tools, as well as a holistic handle on ancient-future worship elements. Thoughtful planner with the ability to execute with clarity and excellence.
