POSITION GOAL

Plan and implement age appropriate lessons meeting the needs of individuals enrolled in the elementary band/strings/general music program and create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, while establishing effective rapport with students; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed as a foundation to become lifelong musicians; and establish positive relationships with parents, staff and community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans to meet individual student needs. Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians by means of conferences, notes, phone calls, email and newsletters. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere. Identify pupil needs, make appropriate referrals, and participate in developing strategies for individual education plans. Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. Create a functional and organized environment for learning.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree. Pennsylvania Music Education K-12 Certification. Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents. Ability to express self clearly and concisely in oral and written communications; and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; to plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives and the needs and abilities of students. Well organized with good time management skills. Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Submission of PA School Personnel Health form. Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances. * This position description does not express or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the incumbent in this position. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits according to the negotiated agreement between the Board of School Directors and the Roberts Education Association. Bachelor's Degree starting $60,250; Master's Degree starting $65,900; Final salary determined by education and experience.
