To learn how to apply for a faculty or staff position, please review this tip sheet.The University of Miami's Frost School of Music has an exciting opportunity for a full time Supervisor, Keyboard Instruments to work in Coral Gables, FL.The Supervisor, Keyboard Instruments maintains the pianos and keyboard instruments of the Frost School of Music (FSOM) under the direction of the Manager of Keyboard Instruments. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Perform tuning of pianos in faculty studios, classrooms, practice rooms, rehearsal halls, and concert hallsPerform repairs as needed, including new strings, action parts, cabinet and bench repairsVacuum pianos as needed and notify Manager of any problems with the pianoRegulation and voicing of pianos as neededMaintain digital pianos in two keyboard labsMaintain current inventory of all acoustic and digital pianos in Excel formatMove celesta, harpsichord and other keyboard instruments as neededSupervise piano moving professionals engaged by the Frost School of MusicPerform tasks related to Purchase Orders for new pianos and piano moving in Workday systemPerform and assist with specialized piano related tasks as assigned by the Manager, Keyboard InstrumentsMaintain collegial relationships and communication with administration, faculty, staff, and studentsThis list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.Core Qualifications:Bachelor's degreeMinimum 3 years of relevant experience. 5 years of recent work experience in the repair, servicing, tuning and preventative maintenance of acoustic pianos and digital keyboards preferredRegistered Piano Technician current status with the Piano Technicians Guild recommendedKnowledge of proper use and care of piano tuning and repair toolsDemonstrated ability to assess the condition and function of pianosExperience in working with harpsichords and other specialty keyboard instrumentsStrong communication skills and the ability to work closely with the manager and other staffExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independentlyAny relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.#LI-EL1The University of Miami is recognized as one of the nation’s premier research institutions and academic health systems and is among the largest employers in South Florida.With more than 20,000 faculty and staff, the University is committed to excellence and guided by a mission to positively impact the lives of students, patients, and communities locally and globally.We are dedicated to fostering a culture where every individual feels valued and empowered to contribute meaningfully.
