Locums - Cardiac Surgery ICU NP/PA | Syracuse, NY

Availability

Coverage Dates: ASAP - 10/02/2026
Schedule: Monday-Friday (day/evening shifts)
Hours: 40-50 hours per week
Reason for Coverage: Employee resignation
2 full-time APP openings

Licensure

New York State License: Required
AANP (NP): Required
NP or PA accepted

Certifications

ACLS: Required
EPIC experience: Required

Experience (Deal-Breakers)

ICU experience required (no new graduates)
Must have critical care experience
Cardiac ICU or cardiothoracic critical care preferred
Inpatient cardiology experience strongly preferred

Practice Setting

Inpatient: Cardiac Surgery ICU + step-down unit
Adult patient population only
EMR: Epic
Non-operative role (no OR required)

Clinical Responsibilities

Manage cardiac surgery ICU and step-down patients
Up to ~10 notes/day
Phone coverage for all inpatients
Independent APP practice with physician support

Procedures Required

Must be able to perform:

Central line placement
Arterial line placement
Chest tube placement
Chest tube removal
Wound vac changes

Supervision / Support

APPs function autonomously
Critical Care physicians onsite for supervision and support

Key Screening Summary

ICU experience required (no new grads)
NY license required
Epic required
Must work full weekday schedule (40-50 hrs/week)
Cardiac ICU experience strongly preferred
