Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Emergency Department License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, HSS Team Must-Have: 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC certifications Description: No clinical involvement; candidates will be sent directly for interview. RN's must pass a written exam during orientation. This is an open book exam, and all necessary resources will be provided. A score of 90% is required to pass. Driver's license is required and will be used for mileage verification. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of contract. The department has a total of 18 beds and trauma bays. Typical patient ratios are 1:4-5 based on acuity. Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, cough/congestion, orthopedic injuries, ENT emergencies, behavioral health, sepsis, and stroke. The facility also treats a significant number of high acuity patients. Common medications administered include antibiotics, narcotics, anti-emetics, vaccines, and emergency medications. The electronic medical record system in use is EPIC. IV pumps used are Alaris. A charge nurse is present on each shift, and they do take an assignment. Shift options vary and include early morning and evening shifts. Weekend work is required every other weekend. There are no floating requirements. The dress code is navy blue scrubs. The orientation consists of two shifts. Utilization of TeleHealth is a focus within the department. Candidates should have a passion for emergency medicine, a positive attitude, be a team player, and demonstrate compassion. Being a self-starter and asking questions is encouraged. Requests for time off must be submitted upfront. Additional requests for time off will not be approved after submissions. The facility can cancel a limited number of shifts during the assignment.
