Schedule: 36 Hours (Nights / Every Other Weekend)

About The Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Nursing Department At Boston Medical Center:

Registered Nurses for the Post-Partum Unit and Newborn Nursery provide couplet care to patients that have recently delivered in our Labor & Delivery unit. As a Magnet recognized organization these nurses provide care to the whole family ensuring the first few days of care have set the family up for success.

Position Summary:

As an RN in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

Job Responsibilities:

• Deliver nursing care in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department including assessing diagnosing planning intervening evaluating and educating patients
• Communicate with various health care team members patients and their families
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
• Update and manage patient records
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization
• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

Job Requirements:

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or the ability to obtain MA RN licensure prior to your start date.
• 1+ years of Mother Baby/Postpartum RN experience required
• Certification in basic life support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
• Nursing degree: Diploma ASN or BSN (preferred)
• Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
• Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification required for certain practice areas
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
• Basic computer proficiency
• Fluency in another language a plus
