Provide leadership in designing, promoting and encouraging a culture that provides differentiated learning opportunities for 21st century learners both within a common area in the building and in classrooms. This is a full time FTE 1.0 position. Position start date: August 2026. Job Summary Collaborates with colleagues to ensure critical thinking, information literacy, technological competencies, and research skills both virtually and face‑to‑face. Coaches colleagues in designing, implementing and reflecting on instruction for the purpose of integrating CCSS, 21st Century Skills and technological competencies into all content areas. Provides support to assist teachers with utilizing technology for instruction and student inquiry. Provides staff development opportunities to use information resources and research skills in a variety of formats. Actively participates on various building and district teams/committees. Seeks out feedback from peers, teachers and students to adjust services. Adapts to changing work environments and acts as a leader in the transformation of the library for the 21st century. Plans and co‑teaches authentic lessons designed to meet student learning outcomes utilizing traditional and digital resources. Informs students and colleagues on digital literacy and ethical use of information. Promotes reading and library use as a life‑long learning skill. Participates in staff development and school improvement activities in order to maintain professional growth. Provides reference and advisory services to assist in locating information and encouraging literacy and self‑directed independent reading. Establish a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment. Act as role model by encouraging appropriate behaviors that lead to social, emotional and physical development. Participates in events outside of the regularly scheduled work day such as orientation, open houses, book fairs and conferences. Continually explores and implements LMC facility updates which provide opportunities for both shared and individual spaces. Develops, prepares, selects and evaluates traditional and digital resources to support instructional and curriculum needs. Ensures fiscal responsibility for license and subscription renewals and requests. Organizes, supervises and plans parent volunteers. Trains, assists and monitors all LMC employees and assistants. Facilitates accurate cataloging, check in/out procedures (i.e. books, media, and equipment), schedules of the LMC space, and collection of fees for lost and damaged items. Collaborates with the building principal in establishing and maintaining the LMC budget. Supports textbook management systems both in hardcopy and digital formats at the building level. Coordinates building level technology needs. Qualifications Required: The qualified candidate will have a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a Library Information Specialist endorsement. Preferred: Master's Degree in Library Science, Instructional Technology, or other related field. 3–5 years classroom experience in the K‑12 setting. Previous experience as an instructional leader.
