Position Overview The Health Economics Team (HET) is seeking a candidate to fill the Advanced Analytics Consultant position. The Advanced Consultant’s primary responsibility is to leverage strong technical skills (SQL, R, Python, and Tableau/PowerBI) and healthcare industry knowledge (payor, provider, pharmacy, public health, epidemiology, etc.) to support and enhance client-facing engagements with HCSC’s largest Commercial customers. Specific responsibilities include providing analytic support and consultancy for HCSC’s largest commercial clients and advisory for internal senior-leader stakeholders related to population health and insurance. The role requires communicating with and presenting to C‑Suite stakeholders, collaborating internally to address plan cost and health drivers, and helping to market impactful client engagements for broader impact. As a technical subject matter expert, the candidate should design and maintain standard data layers, develop coding standards and documentation for organizational use cases, and troubleshoot challenges that arise during analytic development. NOTE: This hybrid role can be located in CHICAGO IL or RICHARDSON TX ~ relocation will not be offered; sponsorship is not available including if you are on OPT. Required Job Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, insurance industry economics or related field OR Master’s degree in related field with 3 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics or related field OR 9 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics or related field Understanding of and highly proficient at querying a wide variety of healthcare data and related population data (medical/pharmacy claims, behavioral health claims, health care management (HCM) records, electronic medical records (EMR), provider databases (AMA, NPI, DEA, etc.), member/patient demographic data, and publicly available databases (U.S. Census, Bureau of Labor Statistics, NIH, etc.) Performance excellence in computer languages, such as SQL, R, Python. Ability to create a dynamic and visually engaging dashboard leveraging data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI High degree of business intelligence and understanding how to take a business case from inception to customer or partner execution. Experience leading an analytic initiative to success. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Performance excellence in championing initiatives and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to bring the initiative to life. Preferred Job Qualifications Masters and 3 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics including 1 year experience in analyzing medical claims data Experience with Databricks. Experience with project management methodologies. Experience of Healthcare industry - payor, provider, pharmacy, public health, epidemiology, etc. Experience with version control/collaborative tools.
