Procurement Buyer-Expeditor

Reports To: Purchasing Manager, Procurement Manager, or Director Location: Houston, Texas FLSA Status: Exempt Summary Under supervision responsible for the day-to-day purchasing activities as required by project assignment. Become familiar with supplier capabilities so as to better develop RFP definitions. Create bid packages to support the requisition process. Have direct communications with suppliers to obtain bid packages and any related supplier documents or drawings. Provide status reports to the project team as required. Generate Purchase Orders as required. Coordinate the receipt process as required. Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for all Purchase Order maintenance. Oversee the bid and award process as part of the procurement team assigned to a project. Be the primary point of contact with Suppliers during the production phase on assigned projects. Provide status reports on assigned project as required. Coordinate supplier documentation control for engineering projects, including certified drawings and final job books. Coordinate quality audits of suppliers as necessary. Provide feedback to the Procurement team on supplier performance. Provide logistics support as necessary to support assigned project. Support accounts payable functions in supplier invoice approval. Performs other related duties as assigned. Responsible for compiling and maintaining status information to expedite movement of material and parts according to predetermined project schedules and priorities. Compiles and maintains records such as supplier drawings or specifications to support an assigned project. Under supervision review commercial and technical capabilities of the supply base as required by the project. Confer with the procurement team to discuss changing schedule requirements. Utilize experience to expedite purchase products and services. Participate in all project team review processes. Familiarity with QMS (Quality Management System) of UPI. Demonstrates a willingness to learn and understand commercial terms. Required Skills and Abilities Ability to utilize spread sheet software. Ability to organize workload. One to three years related purchasing experience. Must have attention to detail. Sound communication skills. Microsoft Office experience preferred. Qualifications College courses toward degree in Business or Supply Chain Management are desirable. Possession of a nationally recognized certification in Procurement or Materials Management or Business Management is desirable. Two years of material management of purchasing or supply chain experience Two years of related procurement experience in an Engineering Services environment will be an alternative. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds. Ability to move around the office to access files, office equipment, and attend meetings. Working conditions infrequently involve some physical exertion, exposure to the elements or hazards inherent in the job which may include travel.
