Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanic Detroit, MI Job Overview A major industrial mining operation is actively seeking multiple skilled Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanics to support underground operations in the Detroit area. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of heavy mining equipment. Position Overview Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on heavy equipment Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and major component rebuilds Work on equipment such as haul trucks, loaders, dozers, excavators, drills, and conveyors Use technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues Complete welding and structural repairs as needed Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation Follow strict safety standards in an underground mining environment Ideal Candidate Background 4+ years of experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic Experience working on dozers, loaders, excavators, haul trucks, or similar equipment Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems troubleshooting Michigan Mechanic Certification (Required) CAT (Caterpillar) certification strongly preferred Ability to work underground in demanding conditions Ability to work 55+ hours per week with varying shifts (days/nights/weekends) Compensation Competitive hourly pay: $32.30 – $35.30/hour Consistent overtime opportunities (55+ hours/week) Stable, long‑term work in a specialized industry Opportunity to work with advanced heavy mining equipment Team‑oriented environment with a strong focus on safety Apply Today If you’re a dedicated Diesel Mechanic ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role in underground mining, we want to hear from you.
