System Engineer / Infrastructure Designer

Salary: $153,774.4 - 153,774.4 per year Requirements:

• Experience designing end-to-end infrastructure solutions and conceptual designs in Microsoft Visio.
• Knowledge of database technologies and interfaces, cloud technologies, and network infrastructure, including TCP, DNS, and load balancers.
• Strong customer communication and stakeholder-influencing skills, including experience working with subject-matter experts and business partners.
• Leadership skills to guide analysis and design and meet committed delivery dates.
• Ability to explain solutions to both business partners and technical hosting teams.
• Experience producing high-level and low-level designs within ITSM-driven processes.
• Preferred: software development background, experience with Oracle Cloud or AWS, familiarity with PMM/DSES processes and deliverables, and exposure to cloud security practices.

• Engage clients to understand business needs and review business requirements documents.
• Convert business requirements into technical requirements and low-level designs.
• Identify and coordinate with infrastructure subject-matter experts to discuss and validate designs.
• Create low-level designs in the ITSM Service Request Design Console and high-level designs using Visio and Adobe.
• Apply reference architecture standards and relevant frameworks to develop standardized, supportable solutions.
• Identify non-standard products and coordinate resolutions with stakeholders.
• Work with the Chief Engineer and Capacity Planner to determine hosting targets and CPU, memory, and storage sizing.
• Document assumptions, issues, risks, and key design decisions.
• Record low-level design details, including compute, memory, storage ownership and type, backup schedules and retention, file systems, application stack requirements, hosting location, Active Directory organizational units, maintenance windows, and required platform software.
• Coordinate with Technology Project Managers on project status, risks, and escalations throughout the lifecycle.
• Work with Supply Chain Management to obtain hardware quotes when needed and secure cost and design approvals.
• Keep design materials accurate and publish them to the project repository.
