Key Responsibilities of the RN - ED- Emergency Department

• Apply nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in high-quality patient care and family interaction
• Assess patient needs, identify care priorities, and collaboratively provide direct care
• Utilize invasive and non-invasive procedures to manage emergency situations
• Connect with patients and families during triage, assigning care priority based on standards
• Conduct primary, secondary assessments, and reassessments to identify treatment response
• Promote trust and cooperation among team members for optimal patient outcomes
• Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and educate them on post-emergency care
• Acknowledge patient/family needs, maintaining their central focus throughout care

Requirements of the RN - ED- Emergency Department

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only)
• Two years' ED acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurse
• NIHSS certification
• NYS RN licensure
