DIRECTOR OF PHYSICIAN SERVICES & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Oversees and works through Physician Network Administrator to evaluate the effectiveness of Physician Practice Division staffing and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement in service, quality, and cost effectiveness including the provision of employee selection, orientation, training, and review. Develops and maintains policies under the Physician Practice Division.
Provides leadership to improve the quality and scope of services available at JMH and for attainment of organizational and strategic goals. Collaborates with the Chief Executive Officer and the rest of the Executive Team to create strategic plans. Maintains financial operations to meet departmental and JMH budgets, including preparation of operating budget and timely review of financial performance. Prepares capital equipment budget based on input from department employees. Monitors financial operation of the divisional entities to ensure budget goals are met.Assists in identifying issues, problems, and opportunities for improvement in market share, physician practices delivery/utilization, referral leakage/development and data collection, and initiates and/or recommends effective solutions. Assists with and supports service line marketing, community relations, community health education, and other projects. Performs rigorous analyses, identifies opportunities, and makes recommendations with inventory management and charges. Manages provider performance in regard to Accountable Care Organization and Value-Based program participation. Creates and maintains positive relationships with employed and non-employed health care providers in and near Johnson Memorial Health. Takes the lead in new provider recruitment and onboarding. Works with JMH providers to help articulate the wide variety of services offered by JMH and promotes these directly to area providers. Develops reports on progress made in building referrals and managing provider relationships. Communicates appreciation to providers for patient referrals. Coordinates and executes community events while cultivating new business. Plans all details of events including volunteer coordination, communication with venues,
event set-up, and execution. Acts as a goodwill ambassador for JMH at community events, chamber of commerce meetings, and other events as directed by the Marketing Director and/or President/CEO. Maintains and participates in Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance activities as determined by JMH including operations improvement for the organization. Facilitates analysis and re-engineering of workflow and key departmental processes for maximization of operations and revenue cycle. Acts as administrative liaison for the physician leadership council and for the Credentials Committee. Ensures compliance with departmental and JMH polices, including safety policies such as Plans for Hazardous Materials, Blood Borne Pathogens, Fire Safety and Disaster Plans. Works to ensure compliance with HFAP, ISDH, CMS and other appropriate regulatory agencies. Performs additional related duties as assigned. Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of JMH. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Requires physician practice management experience, strong knowledge of business and analytic principles, computer skills, a thorough understanding of medical office operations, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations. Experience coordinating on and off-site events including fairs, festivals, and educational seminars. Ability to work in a collaborative and collegial manner with internal stakeholders and external vendors and community organizations. EQUIPMENT USED: Personal computer, photocopier, facsimile machine, calculator, multi-line telephone, mobile phone, printer, scanner, and other office equipment. MENTAL DEMAND: Requires reading, detailed work, confidentiality, problem solving, language, math, reasoning, verbal and written communication, customer contact, multiple current tasks, constant interruptions, analytical skills related to the evaluation of data, ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment, and the ability to present and communicate in potentially large group settings. COMMUNICATIONS: Interacts with a variety of internal customers including, but not limited to, Board of Trustees, Medical Staff, Executive Team, Leadership Team, employees, providers, volunteers, and interns/students. Interacts with external customers and multiple organizations including, but not limited to, home health agencies, physicians' offices, sales representatives, colleagues in the industry, patients, families, and regulatory agency representatives. Interacts as often as daily with both external and internal customers through face-to-face, telephone, or written communication. Key customers of this position include employees, management staff, patients, providers, and the community at large. Performance expectations of the key customers for this position include timely and accurate responses as well as courteous and respectful communication. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Bending at the waist, crouching, kneeling, cleaning, balancing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, writing, squatting, driving, sitting, standing (particularly for long periods of time), talking, hearing, handling (holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand/hands), fingering (picking, pinching, or otherwise working with the fingers primarily), walking, and seeing. Event set up may require lifting boxes, setting up displays, banners, and pop-up tents. The typical workday involves the following physical strength requirements:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. On occasion may be required to lift boxes of files or supplies weighing up to 25 lbs. WORKING CONDITIONS: General office environments and physician practice offices with no notable exposure to fumes, dust, or extremes in heat or cold. Some outdoor work may be required, especially during community events. Category III: No exposure to blood/body fluids. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or in a health sciences field required. Master's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or in a health sciences field is preferred. Minimum of five years of experience in related healthcare management position required. At least 2 years of specific experience with physician practice management required. Current unrestricted Indiana Driver's License required. Must have reliable personal transportation and sufficient/appropriate personal automobile insurance. Johnson Memorial Health is a nationally-recognized network of physicians, services and healthcare resources based in Johnson County, Indiana. The centerpiece is Johnson Memorial Hospital, located in Franklin Indiana, just 20 minutes south of Indianapolis.
