Registered NurseThe role involves caring for patients admitted and waiting for bed availability. Patients may be in a designated area or possibly in the hallway. If there are no patients being boarded, the nurse may work in an acute care area, although this should be rare. The nurse will work every other weekend and some holidays. The ability to quickly respond to the needs of patients in the emergency department is essential. Skills in charting, particularly with the designated system, are preferred.
