Maintenance Mechanic

MalaceHR is seeking two experienced Maintenance Mechanics to support operations within a fast-paced distribution center environment. These are immediate temporary opportunities anticipated to last up to 60 days, with the potential for conversion to a full-time position based on business needs and performance.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with conveyor systems, preventive maintenance, general facility maintenance, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures . This position is focused on maintaining facility and conveyor equipment and is not a forklift maintenance role.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain facility assets and perform preventive maintenance on building and distribution center equipment.
• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair conveyor systems.
• Perform routine conveyor inspections to ensure systems are clean, operational, and functioning safely.
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery throughout the facility.
• Assist the operations team with maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and identify potential equipment failures.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs and general building maintenance.
• Install and repair plumbing, piping, tubing, valves, filters, and associated components.
• Replace bearings in motors and seals on pumps as required.
• Assist with maintenance and repair of heat exchangers, hot water systems, pumps, piping, and related controls.
• Respond promptly and effectively to equipment failures and facility emergencies.
• Complete tenant/service requests and other general maintenance assignments.
• Follow established Lockout/Tagout and workplace safety procedures .
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Identify safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform preventive maintenance with minimal disruption to distribution center operations.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
• Report equipment issues, material shortages, and repair needs to management.
• Properly document completed work, maintenance activities, and materials used.
• Operate and update work orders through a CMMS system .
• Assist and cross-train other maintenance team members as needed.
• Follow all applicable OSHA standards, local codes, company policies, and hazardous-material handling procedures.
• Participate in ongoing technical, operational, and safety training.
• Perform additional maintenance and operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an applicable technical or maintenance training program preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on general building maintenance and repair experience .
• Previous experience maintaining or repairing conveyor systems is required .
• Working knowledge of mechanical systems and preventive maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and applicable local safety codes.
• Experience operating a CMMS/work order management system .
• Ability to safely operate electric and manual hand tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic mechanical and plumbing repairs.
• Ability to work from ladders, on rooftops, and in confined spaces such as closets, crawl spaces, attics, and equipment areas.
• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver tools, equipment, and materials as required.
• Ability to accurately complete written maintenance documentation.
• Must be comfortable working within an active distribution center environment.
• Ability to work in varying environmental and weather conditions as required.

Shifts

• Day Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–3:00 PM
• Night Shift: Sunday–Thursday, 8:00 PM–5:00 AM
