University of St. ThomasCampus MinisterCampus Ministry The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a full-time Campus Minister. The position reports directly to the Director of Campus Ministry and is within the Student Affairs organization. This position will actively contribute towards furthering our Student Affairs Board of Trustee charges to strengthen UST's (a) student success efforts and (b) Catholic mission and faith integration efforts. Applicants for this position must be Catholic, and they need to be able to support joyfully, professionally, and publicly the University as it seeks to be faithful to and embody both a robust Catholicism--in its intellectual, doctrinal, moral, and spiritual dimensions.Position Summary:The Campus Minister is a ministry position directly involved with student formation in the areas of Catholic outreach and spiritual integration of the campus community. This position develops and implements retreats, service opportunities, and peer ministry initiatives, as well as provides support for students leading these initiatives, acts as a liaison with St. Paul's Outreach (SPO) missionaries, and forms small group leaders and faith-centered living communities known as "households." The Campus Minister has the authority to implement operating practices, carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the organization, and is involved in planning long-term and short-term organizational objectives. This position reports directly to the Director of Campus Ministry.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to students on an ongoing basis Inspire, form, and equip students, faculty, and staff so that they would grow in holiness, form a deeper relationship with God, and invite others to join them by meeting them where they are, building Christ-centered relationships with them, and forming them into lifelong disciples.Form, equip, and send Peer Ministers to evangelize the UST community with ongoing meetings and one-on-ones, as well as lead them in organizing, planning, and running student outreach events.Plan, guide, and lead retreats, alongside the Retreats Intern, to provide overnight and daily faith experiences for students on and off campus, such as the Fall Retreat, Men's and Women's Retreats, Packing Nothing Retreat, Athlete Retreat, Household Retreat, Leadership Retreats, etc.Guide and supervise Households to be Christ-centered living; plan and lead household-related events.Invite, form, and send small group leaders to lead intentional small groups on campus, and continue to shepherd/mentor them.Mentor student leaders on campusOrganize and lead the UST group (students and staff) that will attend the annual SEEK Conference, including coordination of all trip logistics and formation of students.Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and on-campus groups to engage students in Campus Ministry activities.Work alongside other Campus Ministry staff in planning and executing all student leadership-related activities, such as meetings, retreats, and training.Advise the Campus Ministry team on various aspects of Catholic identity for the Participate in various meetings that help support Campus Ministry goals andServe as UST representative on Young Adult and Campus Ministry activities with the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. May serve as a representative of Campus Ministry, as requested (e.g. Care Team, Spiritual Integration Committee, etc.)Act as liaison between Campus Ministry and Paul's Outreach missionaries, helping to organize formation activities and outreach events with the missionaries.Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Complete all administrative office work, including maintaining the budget and proper communication with co-workers.Experience and Education Requirements:Bachelor 's degree required; preference will be given to candidates with associated degrees in Theology, Religious Studies, Catechetics, or similar fields of Other areas of study are acceptable with additional years of ministry experience.Preference for a Master's degree in Divinity or Theology from an accredited Catholic institutionMust be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Roman CatholicMinimum 2 years of experience in ministry-related activities that concern the faith development of youth or young adults.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish is stronglyExcellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize projects and Ability to work effectively in collaboration with Possess the enthusiasm, creativity, knowledge, and energy needed to meet the demands of the position.Demonstrate an understanding of the spiritual and pastoral needs of the targeted age group which they intend to serve.Must be reliable and dependable to meet the scheduled work hours, which will include evenings and weekends, as planned.Demonstrate an intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other graphic design software (e.g., Canva, InDesign, Finale, etc.)Working ConditionsPosition will require work during non-traditional business hours and on Sundays, Holy Days (e.g., Easter, Christmas, etc.), and weekends at specific events such as service projects, retreats, evening programs, student conferences, etc. Physical requirements are those of a normal business office.
