MEDICAL RECORDS CLERK

Job Details Job Location: Richmond - Richmond, TX, Education Level: High School, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Travel Percentage: None, Job Shift: Day Job Summary Facilitate daily operational activities of the Medical Records Department. Maintain paper and electronic patient records utilizing systematic filing. Responsible for maintenance, release and, retrieval of all Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA and agency policy. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Ensures privacy and security measures are taken to protect health care data, both paper and electronic. Responsible for release and retrieval of all client files. Maintains all paper and electronic patient records and chart dictation in the appropriate medical records utilizing systematic filing methods. Responsible for purging and destruction of PHI according to state law and agency policy. Obtains proper signatures as necessary. Accepts job related training and development in new task and technologies. Develops a positive working relationship with agency staff. Travels when necessary to meet operational needs. Comply with all company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Performs all other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications: Education/License/Certification Qualifications REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent. Skills and Experience REQUIRED: Familiarity with office equipment: computer keyboarding, and photocopiers. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels. High ethical standards. Well-organized and self-directed. Team player. PREFERRED One year of work experience, clerical and file management preferred, or Medical Records Technician.
