A Conventional ID (Internal Diameter) Grinder operator sets up and runs manual grinding machines to shape and finish the inside cylindrical surfaces of metal parts. This highly precise role requires blueprint reading, manual tool adjustments, and quality inspection to meet strict tolerances.

Core Responsibilities

• Machine Setup: Determine grinding speeds, feed rates, and holding fixtures. Dress grinding wheels and position them according to engineering blueprints and specifications.
• Operation: Manually operate conventional ID grinding equipment to bore out and finish internal diameters to exact tolerances.
• Quality Control: Use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges) to inspect finished parts.
• Maintenance: Perform routine machine maintenance, adjust settings for production efficiency, and maintain a clean and safe workspace.

Key Skills & Requirements

• Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, work orders, and travelers.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, and the working properties of industrial metals.
• Physical Stamina: Capability to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Safety & Compliance: Strict adherence to workplace safety protocols, including wearing required PPE and using appropriate wheel guards.
