ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Minimum Experience: 1 year; first-time travelers are accepted.

Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics.

Certifications Required:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

General Skills and Work Setting Requirements: The role involves working in a Medical Surgical ICU with a range of diagnoses, including but not limited to:

• Sepsis / Severe Sepsis / Septic Shock
• Respiratory Failure / Pulmonary Diseases
• Post-Cardiac Arrest
• GI Bleed / Hemorrhagic Shock
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Acute Kidney Disease
• Complicated Surgery Cases (Perforations)
• Pulmonary Edema
• Pulmonary Embolus
• Drug Overdose (Intentional and Accidental)
• Hypoglycemia and Hyperglycemia
• Hypertensive Emergencies
• Cardiac Arrhythmias
• Rhabdomyolysis
• Metabolic Encephalopathy
• Malignant Neoplasms

Skills with specific therapies and procedures, including:

• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
• Targeted Temperature Management (TTM)
• Chest Tubes
• Bronchoscopies
• Lumbar Punctures
• Incision & Drainage (I&D)
• Central Line Insertion Assistance
• Central Line and Arterial Line Maintenance
• Peritoneal Dialysis
• Continuous Bladder Irrigations
• Continuous IV Infusions (Pressors, Paralytics, Sedatives, Cardiac)

Ratio / Census: The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2-3 with an average daily census of 12 in a 15-bed unit containing 13 rooms.

Unit Systems:

• Epic (required)
• Pyxis
• SBAR

Scrub Color: Navy Blue.

RTO (Requested Time Off): Maximum of 7 days, with blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4th-12th).

Weekends: Every other weekend, unless otherwise specified.

Floating: Floating within the facility and scope of practice may be required as needed.

Call Requirements: No call required.

Holidays: If one major holiday falls within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it. For two major holidays, the traveler must work both; for three major holidays, the traveler is expected to work two of the holidays.

Compliance: Full compliance is required to start on time. Non-compliance may result in a pushback of up to 2 weeks due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule.

Aya Offer Information: Once a candidate has signed and received confirmation, the manager has 48 hours to review the profile and determine if the unit, schedule, and expertise fit. The Aya offer is contingent on clinical approval within RTO guidelines and meeting specific facility requirements.
