Job Description

The Materials Lead plays a key role in a multi-line manufacturing facility by organizing, maintaining, and moving materials and inventory to ensure uninterrupted production. Working on 1st shift, this role oversees material flow from warehouse and storage locations to designated production lines, applying 5S methodologies to keep the warehouse and production areas efficient, safe, and well-organized.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and organize materials and inventory for a multi-line production facility using 5S methodologies to support efficient operations.
• Move products from warehouse and storage locations to assigned production lines to ensure all lines run without disruptions.
• Read, understand, and anticipate each production line’s schedule to coordinate with the materials team on product demand and timing to reduce downtime.
• Track materials sent to production lines to help eliminate overruns and accurately monitor scrap.
• Check in, receive, label, and move product to appropriate warehouse and production locations.
• Ensure inbound shipments are offloaded in a timely manner to meet operational needs.
• Load and unload trucks while validating shipments against the needs list and documentation.
• Transfer products safely and efficiently within the facility, following established handling procedures.
• Complete and document quality audits of inbound materials to confirm accuracy and condition.
• Organize and utilize warehouse space effectively to maximize storage and workflow efficiency.
• Take ownership of the assigned area, including maintaining standards and training other personnel on established procedures.
• Confirm packing list accuracy and ensure material is put away in the correct location.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory audits by assisting with counts and reconciliation.
• Maintain clear communication with supervisors and team members to align material flow with customer demand and production requirements.
• Foster the development of a strong, cohesive team to ensure efficient warehouse operations and effective customer service execution.

• Experience in logistics, including coordinating material flow between warehouse and production lines.
• Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading trucks.
• Ability to read, understand, and anticipate production line schedules to align material delivery and reduce downtime.
• Strong inventory management skills, including tracking material usage, scrap, and overruns.
• Proficiency in warehouse operations, including organizing space, labeling products, and maintaining orderly storage.
• Ability to perform cycle counts and support formal inventory audits.
• Forklift operation skills for safe and efficient movement of materials.
• Ability to oversee the allocation of resources to meet customer demand and production requirements.
• Clear, consistent communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and team members.
• Capability to train other personnel on procedures and take ownership of assigned areas.

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment with multiple production lines.
• Familiarity with 5S or similar continuous improvement and workplace organization methodologies.
• Attention to detail when validating packing lists, needs lists, and inbound documentation.
• Comfort working in a small, close-knit team environment.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing and warehouse environment, which can be hot during the summer and cold in the winter months. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate, but can become loud at times depending on department activities and the use of tools and equipment. You will work on 1st shift, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, as part of a small team of approximately 14–15 people in the facility.

The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $43680.00/yr.
