Summary of Cook Position:The Cook is responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing and cooking meat, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food items. This role includes portioning ingredients, preparing food products prior to cooking, assisting with final plate assembly, and ensuring each dish is plated and garnished according to brand standards. The position is essential in maintaining consistent quality, presentation, and flavor across all menu items.Licensing Requirements:Valid Food Handlers CertificationDuties & Responsibilities:Refer to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned dutiesPrepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipmentAssumes 100% responsibility for quality of products servedKnows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and proceduresStocks and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service periodPortions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specificationsMaintains a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipmentPrepares item for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinatingFollows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishesProperly handles, stores, and rotates all products in accordance with company standardsAssists in food prep assignments during off peak periods as neededClose the kitchen properly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assist others in closing the kitchen.Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvementPerforms other related duties as assigned by the Chef, manager or directorKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Skilled in cooking, portioning, and preparing a variety of menu itemsKnowledge of kitchen equipment, food safety, and sanitation standardsAbility to plate and garnish dishes to standardStrong attention to detail and qualityTeam oriented and able to work efficiently in a fast paced kitchen environmentQualifications:Must be 18 years of age or olderSome experience in kitchen preparation and cooking preferred, but willingness to learn necessary skillsMust be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnelMust be authorized to work in the U.S.Work Environment / Physical Demands:Expected to keep work location a safe and healthy work environment. Utilize basic safety measures to keep the work environment safe. Report any safety concerns to your supervisor.
