About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Duration: 16 weeks preferred, 13 weeks accepted Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU experience required License: Pending License accepted Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Cardiac/CVICU ICU experience; No neuro experience. Description: This position requires high acuity Cardiac ICU experience. The RN will work in a unit with a patient ratio of 1:2. Orientation includes a total of 40 hours. Weekends will be required every other week. The clinician may float within their service line as needed. The patient population includes adults with acute conditions such as heart failure, fluid overload, cardiogenic shock, and arrhythmias. Skills required include ventilator management, arterial line management, pacemakers, and management of vasoactive drips. Additional competencies include pulmonary artery catheter management and support for patients with intra-aortic balloon pumps, LVADs, and Impellas. The RN must be able to administer emergency medications and perform central line care/management. The workload involves monitoring central venous pressure and conducting dialysis. Travelers will be required to pass an EKG exam as part of compliance measures. This is a Magnet and Teaching Hospital facility with a total of 1,266 staffed beds. The daily census averages 14 patients with a unit capacity of 20 beds. Interdisciplinary support includes pharmacy, physical therapy, and rapid response teams. This role requires the ability to manage a variety of acute conditions and perform essential nursing procedures.
