Digital Architect

Visionet is seeking a Digital Architect for our Retail & Consumer practice who operates as a true consultant first. You will serve as a trusted advisor to client SVP and VP-level leadership, bringing deep, demonstrable understanding of how a modern retail and eCommerce business actually runs and how the surrounding ecosystem fits together, from storefront and commerce through MarTech, OMS, CRM, payments, and the integrations that connect them. You combine architectural depth with business fluency, earning credibility in the room by understanding the client's commercial goals as well as their technology. You also bring a forward-looking perspective on how AI and agentic capabilities are reshaping retail and the digital customer journey.

What You'll Do

• Act as a consultative advisor to client leadership, connecting business objectives to architecture and platform decisions across the full retail commerce ecosystem
• Bring an end-to-end view of the commerce landscape, advising across storefront, CMS, OMS, payments, MarTech, CRM, customer data, and the integration layer that ties them together
• Drive service-based and integration architecture, including service decomposition, API contracts, GraphQL/REST patterns, and the data flows that link commerce to marketing, order management, and fulfillment
• Advise on and guide the integration of AI and agentic capabilities into the customer journey, including conversational commerce, intelligent search, personalization, and AI-assisted experiences
• Lead architecture and solution reviews, surface risks and technical debt, and deliver roadmaps that resonate with both business and technology stakeholders
• Translate technical and architectural trade-offs into clear business narratives in steering meetings and executive conversations
• Partner with delivery leads on solution integrity, and contribute to pre-sales solutioning and account growth

What You Bring

• Deep, demonstrable understanding of the end-to-end retail and eCommerce ecosystem, including how merchandising, marketing, commerce, order management, fulfillment, and customer data work together
• Strong working knowledge of customer engagement stack, including marketing automation, campaign management, personalization, CDP, CRM, and customer journey orchestration
• Familiarity with order management systems (OMS), inventory and fulfillment flows, and how they integrate with commerce and store systems
• Fluency in the integration patterns that connect these systems, and the ability to reason about data flows across the business, not just within a single application

Technical Depth

• 10+ years in digital and eCommerce architecture or consulting, with 3+ years in a client-facing advisory or lead architect role
• Hands-on experience with headless commerce, including Next.js and React storefronts, Vercel deployment and edge configuration, and headless CMS platforms such as BrightSpot
• Strong service-based and integration architecture fundamentals, covering microservices, API-first development, and distributed systems at scale
• Payment platform integration experience with Adyen, Synchrony, Affirm, or comparable enterprise payment solutions
• Proven performance engineering depth across Core Web Vitals, edge-side rendering, cache optimization, load testing, and uptime engineering for peak retail traffic periods
• Working knowledge of AI and agentic development patterns, including LLM integration, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agent orchestration, and embedding AI into commerce and customer-facing experiences

Consulting and Leadership Skills

• A genuinely consultative approach: asks the right questions, understands the business problem before reaching for a solution, and advises rather than dictates
• Track record of building trust with Executive-level client leaders across both business and technology
• Ability to present architecture and solution trade-offs, including emerging AI capabilities, to non-technical executives clearly and confidently
• Experience navigating multi-vendor client environments with competing stakeholder priorities
• Thrives in ambiguous, fast-moving contexts and drives clarity without waiting for it
