Job Summary:
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the office/clinic setting. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with office/clinic physicians about changes in patient's status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
Working Conditions: Work is conducted in a clinical setting requiring extended periods of time walking and standing. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position without compromising patient care. Employee may be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases, exposed to hazardous cleaning agents, body fluids and waste, occasional exposure to an unpleasant patient or unit elements.
Employee will be required to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Employees may be required to exceed these levels and are also provided lift assists in patient care areas. These are baseline requirements for adequate performance of this job. Job duties are based on an average 8-hour shift.

- Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes adolescent, geriatric patients and the general patient population.
- Ability to assess and reassess pain and pain management techniques utilized. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias.
- Assists the Practitioner with office procedures; maintains medical and surgical asepsis.
- Maintains medical equipment; disinfects and sterilizes instruments.
- Answers telephone calls in a professional manner; refers patient problems to office/clinic Practitioner.
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Interacts professionally with patient and family and involves patient and family in the formation of the plan of care.
- Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.
- Demonstrates knowledge of lab requirements, requisitions.
- Plans and provides nursing care with physicians orders.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with office/clinic standards.
- Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
- Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
- Cooperates with other personnel to achieve office/clinic objectives, maintains good employee relations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of healthcare plans, procedural costs.
- Demonstrates the ability to assist physicians with procedures in the office/clinic.
- Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
- Demonstrates awareness of current state, federal and local laws governing the delivery of care.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
- Completes annual education requirements.
- Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and CMS regulations.
- Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
- Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized time system correctly.
- Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.
- Attends staff meetings, reads monthly staff meeting minutes.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Actively participates in performance improvement and quality improvement.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with up to six (6) months Registered Nurse experience.
- Current RN or LPN license within the state of practice.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
