Public Works Operations Manager

The Public Works Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and supporting the operations related to streets, refuse/recycling, parking, equipment and building maintenance. The position requires leadership in planning, organizing and directing activities across these divisions, as well as managing budgets, staff and policy development. The manager is expected to ensure efficient operations while maintaining high standards of service delivery, compliance and safety. Key Responsibilities :

• Plan, organize, assign and supervise maintenance activities related to streets, roads, alleys, sidewalks and stormwater facilities, including infrastructure maintenance.
• Assist in the management of refuse/recycling, parking operations and facilities, including policy and procedure development.
• Oversee contract management, cost controls, and key performance measures to ensure efficient operations.
• Assist with financial tasks such as preparing budgets, work schedules, payroll, requisitions, invoicing, and bidding and procurement.
• Review infrastructure conditions through data and reports, and implement long-term maintenance, repair, replacement schedules and budgets.
• Performs other work as required and assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related public service field and five years of experience in public services operations, including at least six months of supervisory experience OR a high school diploma and at least seven years of experience in public services operations, including at least six months of supervisory experience; Possess or have the ability to obtain a Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM) or Certified Manager (CM) within 18 months of hire; Possess or have the ability to obtain a Class B or Class A Commercial Driver's License with no Air Brake Restrictions and with Tanker Endorsement within 18 months of hire. Driver's License must be unrestricted except for corrective lenses and Automatic Transmission Commercial Motor Vehicle.
