Cardio-thoracic ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
The Cardio-thoracic ICU Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive care to critically ill patients in the Cardio-thoracic Intensive Care Unit. This role requires a skilled nurse who can manage complex medical conditions and interventions tailored for cardiac and thoracic patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care to patients in the Cardio-thoracic ICU.
- Monitor and assess patient status, including vital signs, and report any changes in condition.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare team.
- Perform advanced nursing procedures, including management of ventilators, IV starts, and pulmonary artery lines.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans and recovery processes.
Shift Information
This position requires working night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30, three times per week. Weekend shifts are also required, unless otherwise specified in the schedule.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of two years of experience in an Intensive Care Unit, specifically in Cardio-thoracic care.
- Current certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Experience with ventilators, IV placement, and pulmonary artery lines.
- Prior travel nursing experience is preferred.
Additional Information
- Required to float within the hospital to other ICU units as needed.
- Pending licenses may be accepted.
- Available for 18-week contract duration with an immediate start date.
- Guaranteed hours may vary based on census; candidates may be called off during low census periods.
- Scrub color is flexible; scrubs are provided for OR personnel.
- Charting will be conducted through the EPIC system.
- Parking costs are applicable.
RTO Restrictions
Requests for time off (RTO) are permitted, with a maximum of seven days in November and December, which can include one holiday. Nurses are required to work two of three major holidays during the contract period.
