Occupational Therapy Assistant

The California Children's Services (CCS) section of the Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for Occupational Therapy Assistants who assist Licensed Occupational Therapists in the assessment of patient needs and in administering individual and group therapy programs. Occupational Therapy Assistants conduct treatment sessions; observe responses to treatment; modify treatment technique during sessions as needed under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist; provide instruction in daily living activities and provide encouragement to patients to attempt new activities; communicate with the supervisor and other health team members about the patient's therapy progress, problems, or treatment plans; document and maintain charts and records; assist in providing caregiver instruction; order supplies and maintain inventories of tools and equipment used in activities. Perform other tasks as assigned. The current vacancy exists in Victorville. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancies and may be used to fill future vacancies within the DPH as they occur throughout the County. A legible copy of the OTA license is required upon appointment.-AND- Certification: All candidates must possess and maintain Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.Desired QualificationsExperience with Microsoft Office is highly desirable.
