Position Overview Salary: $22.63 - $25.14 hourly. Location: Douglas, WY. This permanent full‑time Driver License Field Examiner position requires weekly travel to Wheatland, Wyoming. Responsibilities involve issuing ID cards, driver licenses, and commercial driver licenses, and administering written and road tests. Potential $2,000 hiring bonus (eligibility details in Notes section). Essential Functions Provides service to and interacts with the general public in a professional and courteous manner, even during stressful and difficult situations; answers general questions regarding driver license and ID card applications, traffic laws, driver education, insurance requirements, and organ donation. Receives, reviews, and issues all types of licenses, permits, ID cards, disabled placards, and concealed firearms permits, including revisions and renewals. Determines applicant eligibility for licensing by making inquiries and properly interpreting responses received through state and national computer information systems. Screens applicant’s physical, mental and visual abilities to safely operate motor vehicles per state and federal law. Administers computer‑assisted written and vision tests, or other tests to applicants. Schedules applicants for driving skills tests. Administers driving skills test examinations and performs vehicle inspections prior to testing. Advises applicants of suspensions, cancellations and revocations, and advises how to reinstate their driving privileges. Accurately enters, processes, tracks, and reviews driver license and permit, ID card, disabled placard and concealed firearms permit data into appropriate computer applications, databases, and systems; operates signature and photo capture devices. Collects appropriate fees for services, prepares receipts, and ensures accountability per state policy that monies received balance with receipts issued. Researches and communicates information related to license and permit requirements to the general public, agency staff, law enforcement, courts, other states, and government officials; answers questions, explains licensing and permit requirements, accurately interprets driving record data, and supplies information regarding license and permit processing, policies, and procedures. Qualifications Knowledge Driver Services operations manual, rules and regulations. Relevant federal policies and procedures, and state statutes. Driver License Information System. Detecting fraudulent documents. Minimum Qualifications Education Associate’s Degree (typically in Business). Experience 0–2 years progressive work experience (typically in business); or 2–4 years progressive work experience (typically in business). Necessary Special Requirements Travel to various WDOT locations required. Notes FLSA: Non‑Exempt. Applicants must pass an FBI fingerprint check.
