Job description

Shipping Specialist Specialist has the responsibility of final order approval; checking all customer orders for accuracy of product picked, stickered, packed and shipped within individual customer specifications.  The Shipping specialist must have extensive product knowledge as well as expertise in current shipping techniques & procedures, carrier shipping software and working knowledge current carrier contracts to minimize carrier fees. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Responsible to accurately pull and pack product in accordance with specifications and timetables

• Detects and reports any defective material(s) or questionable conditions to the Shipping Supervisor immediately

·         Accurately reads customer orders, or requisitions to determine item to be moved, gathered, or shipped

·         Generate appropriate label/sticker and apply to product as per picking sheet/customer order

·         Learn and know products intimately, must be able to recognize not only sku #s but products

·         Assembles customer orders from stock and readies for shipment

• Make recommendations to management for methods of improvement

·         Always organizes warehouse and work area for orderliness

·         Marking boxes or materials with identifying information using appropriate method

·         Frequent additional warehouse duties as assigned

·         Assists and complies with other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

·         Must be 18 years or older with the ability to read, write and speak English specific to work instructions

·         Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, sales orders, & shipping documents

·         Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while being organized

·         Results driven and proactive, strong desire to own and execute area of responsibility with excellence

·         Experience working within a team, across departments, and with diverse backgrounds

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Basic math (addition/subtraction/multiplication/division)

·         Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds constantly and 20 pounds occasionally.

·         Ability to work in cold and hot environments (approximately 38F-80F degrees)

·         Ability to be mobile in accomplishing tasks and or moving from one to another this could include but not be limited to in-office departments

·         Ability to repeat motions that may include use of the wrists, hands and/or fingers, and standing or sitting for prolonged periods (average 8-10 hours)
