The Commercial Truck Driver position will safely operate a truck and transport food products to and from specified customer locations in compliance with Company safety procedures, policies and guidelines and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. This position will deliver orders to key customers in a fast-paced direct delivery environment. The Truck Driver will also load and unload trucks manually, utilizing company equipment and food industry best practices. This position is also customer-centric and expected to build positive business relationships with customers while delivering products for Mission Driven Distributors.

Key Responsibilities (Not Limited to the Following)

The Commercial Driver will be aligned with the Company’s goals, KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators), business, operational, sales and customer service priorities.

– Champion and make driving safety a priority at all times while operating a Company assigned vehicle

– Build rapport with customers and provide exceptional service

– Unload & load products from the trailer with a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place them in designated customer storage areas

– Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures, contact management for authorization when discrepancies are identified, manage damaged goods and customer returns, and update delivery records for product tracking

– Comply with Company’s food safety and industry standards to ensure contents are maintained and secured inside of the truck to prevent damages

– Collect and secure money (cash or checks) as required during customer deliveries and follow the Company’s cash-handling procedures

– Complete Department of Transportation (DOT) logs (electronic or manual as required), company vehicle maintenance reports and reconcile with appropriate company representative for support and resolution

– Manage pre-trip and post-trip procedures in accordance with DOT guidelines and Harvest Sherwood Food Distributor’s policies and best practices

– Safely operate all assigned equipment, including but not limited to hand carts, pallets jacks, and personal protective equipment

– Complete other tasks, assignments and projects as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

The Commercial Truck Driver position requires individuals to have the ability to perform each essential job function. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities:

– A valid Driver's License (Class C) Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Clean Motor is preferred but applicants will be reviewed with minimal violations for the past 24 months

– Minimum 1-3 years of professional driving experience

– Must be at least 21 years old

– Pass a pre-employment drug test and physical, as well as a background check

– Professional, friendly, & positive attitude

– Good communication skills & customer service experience required

– Excellent attendance & work ethic

– Exceptional time management skills

– The ability to lift and carry merchandise weighing 35-90 lbs. frequently throughout a shift, and the ability to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts

– Flexible to work assigned work shifts and complete route schedules as required, with availability for overtime as required, occasional weekends, and holidays

Technical Requirements

– Professional experience with communication tools, software, routing platforms, and devices to navigate delivery routes

Language Skills

– Fluent in English (verbal & written), Bilingual skills a plus

Physical Demands

– Physical requirements can vary. However, the position may require the following physical activities: Ability to lift at least 2 pounds to a maximum of 90 pounds unassisted; sit, stand, stoop, walk, stretch, reach frequently; moderate range of body motions.
