Software Application Engineer (C++/Qt) – Surgical Robotics
Contract | Hybrid (3–4 Days Onsite)
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Application Software Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced software for a robotic-assisted surgery platform.
This is a hands-on role for an engineer who can quickly ramp up within an established team and independently design and deliver production-ready software. You'll work on complex applications used in operating room environments where reliability, performance, and usability are critical.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain complex application software using C++
- Quickly learn the existing architecture, codebase, and development workflows
- Independently develop software components according to defined requirements and coding standards
- Participate in code reviews, unit and component testing, code analysis, and defect resolution
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts throughout the development lifecycle
- Troubleshoot software issues and contribute to improvements in performance and reliability
- Create technical documentation in accordance with R&D and Quality Management System procedures
- Communicate technical decisions, progress, risks, and issues clearly across the team
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong C++ and object-oriented programming skills in a production environment
- Experience designing and developing application-level software within an established architecture
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Qt/QML, Linux, and/or Docker
- Full SDLC and Agile development experience, including unit testing, code coverage, CI/CD, static/dynamic analysis, and defect tracking
- Knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, linear algebra, computational geometry, or computer graphics
- Experience with medical imaging, image processing, computer vision, robotics, or algorithm development
- Experience developing software in a medical device, biomedical, or other regulated environment
- Contract or consulting experience with a demonstrated ability to join established teams and contribute quickly
