Specialty clinic in West Hollywood is looking for a medical assistant to join their back office team! Opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and make a lasting impact on the Los Angeles community!

This role is primarily a back-office Medical Assistant position with a strong focus on HIV testing, counseling, and phlebotomy in a high-volume, fast-paced community health clinic. It supports underserved populations and demands compassion, cultural sensitivity, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-volume phlebotomy, finger sticks, urine collection, and specimen processing.
• Provide pre- and post-test, client-centered HIV counseling.
• Conduct HIV/STD risk assessments and prevention education.
• Take vitals, room patients, and prepare charts.
• Assist providers during exams and procedures.
• Maintain monthly equipment logs, including Hemocue and refrigerators.
• Support linkage to HIV primary care for newly diagnosed or disengaged patients.
• Support referral submission and tracking.
• Assist with patient discharge and follow-up instructions.
• Maintain accurate documentation per funder and Quality Management requirements.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance at all times.

Essential Skills

• Medical Assistant diploma or certificate from a recognized institution.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• EMR experience.
• Minimum 2 years of medical assistant experience preferred.
• Primary care, community health, nonprofit, or FQHC experience strongly preferred.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Candidates with 1 year of experience will be considered if they have strong phlebotomy, HIV experience, or CMA/CPT certification.
• Phlebotomy certification (CPT) or CMA.
• Community health, nonprofit, or FQHC setting experience.
• Hospital, ER, or urgent care experience.
• Spanish-speaking is a plus but not required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Hollywood, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
