Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years of Emergency Department experience required License: Michigan State License Certifications: ACLS, TNCC, BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA) Must-Have: TNCC certification required (not ENPC) Description: An emergency is a serious symptom or medical condition caused by an illness or injury. Emergency departments are open 24/7, as patients may arrive at any time of day or night. Consider the seriousness of the condition and symptoms when deciding to seek treatment. For serious injuries or medical conditions, you should go to an emergency room. Conditions needing care in an emergency department include symptoms of a stroke, such as sudden numbness in an extremity. Symptoms of a heart attack, including chest pain or shortness of breath, require immediate attention. Seizures or loss of consciousness should be treated in an emergency setting. Severe injuries, such as fractures or head trauma, necessitate urgent care. Vomiting or coughing up blood is a critical condition. Deep cuts or bleeding that won’t stop require intervention. Severe burns should be treated by trained professionals. Severe abdominal pain warrants examination in an emergency room.
